A custom order for a customer that wanted some eclectic fused glass buttons for her handcrafted knitted apparel. The glass cabs are adhered to button shanks and are safe for handwashing. They add a nice touch to clothing and can be made in so many differerent colors and textures. The photo below shows the back of the buttons. I have some pretty buttons that I made into a bracelet that is so comfortable to wear. I love it!

Earth Day

What does Earth Day mean to you? April 22 is a day to inspire appreciation and awareness for Earth’s environment. While raising awareness is important, action has, and always will, speak 1,000 words.

So what can you do to show your appreciation for the world? Installing solar panels on your home as a alternative energy source out of budget even if it will save you money in the long run? Already recycling your glass, plastic and cardboard? What about paperboard? That is what your cereal boxes, food boxes and other household products are packaged in. Does your recycling center take them? Some do, but there are many communities that do not.

What if you needed a journal and had a choice between one made from recycled paper that you can pick up from your local office supply store and one that was fabulously upcycled from that paperboard you do not know what to do with to keep it out of landfills?

I found this green minded, creative and super friendly seller on Etsy. She welcomes your empty cereal boxes and other fun paperboard and card board food cartons. Album covers, VHS covers…..any of them that are in good condition. Then you get a 30% discount off of your purchase from her shop. Autism Awareness

Each April, I create a new pieces for the celebration of Autism Awareness Month. These bangle bracelets were well received by those looking for a way to support those who know, love, live or work with someone with Autism. Beyond being a glass artist, I am first and foremost a speech language therapist that has known many amazing people that are diagnosed with autism. Over the years, I have witnessed a trend toward earlier diagnosis and therefore earlier intervention. The general public is better informed,schools are better equipped and parents are better supported and that translates into significant growth for the individual with autism. It seems that in my lifetime we have moved a few mountains, but there are still more to work on. I try to do my part each and every day, even if it is just a little piece.

I sell pieces like this for cost and love to donate pieces for raffles or other fundraising events. Feel free to contact me if you are interested.

Rock-N-Lobster

A fun upcycled fused flat wine bottle with a bright red lobster crawling across the top. Looks great as a decoration or as a platter for cheese and crackers. These will only be made in very limited quantities, so if you want one, grab it before it crawls away!

Do you have a favorite bottle that you would like made into a platter? If you send me a picture I can give you a tentative idea as to what to expect from it once it is heated up to 1500 degrees in the kiln. Some designs on bottles survive the heat while others burn off. I made this fused glass pendant for my daughter to celebrate her journey into self portrait photography. She is just 12 years old and has had a very difficult time this past year with her health. A gift of a camera at Christmas seemed to be something that would allow her creativity to continue to flourish, even when writing made her physically ill. I am busy working in my studio creating some new designs with my larger four leaf clovers. Too large for jewelry, but often so stunning that it is a shame not to incorporate them into a bit of luck that you can keep forever. This season you can look for more belt buckles, wish boxes and a variety of resin pendants. I just finished a custom order for a customer that sent me a special clover and I set it into a ring for her. She loved it because her fiance had found it for her when they were on their first date.
